Lucia ARNO-BERNSEN
Lucia Arno-Bernsen is from Belmont and returned to live in the community in 1985. A graduate of Boston University’s College of Communications, she received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. Lucia began her career writing News and Feature stories for the Cape Cod Times and other community newspapers. Her articles have also appeared in cable industry trade publications and UPI.
Lucia worked at Time Warner in their cable television division where she spent 15 years in sales, marketing and communications management. She started a sales department that grew from six representatives to a staff of 35. She collaborated on two marketing awards from the Cable Television Marketing Association. Lucia served as president of the New England Chapter of Women in Cable & Telecommunications for three years where she earned national recognition coordinating industry panels that introduced awareness on work/life balance and workplace diversity.
Since 2000, Lucia chose positions that provided the opportunity to support work-life integration and give back to the community. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Belmont Hill Club for two and a half years, and her prior role included selective project work involving marketing and market research. Lucia continues to be an Independent Representative for Silpada Designs Jewelry. She recently completed writing a children’s book that she hopes to publish.
Lucia’s volunteer activities focused on Belmont education including Vice-President, Ways & Means at Winn Brook School, Co-President (2 yrs) Chenery Middle School, Belmont High School Hospitality Chair and Publicity Chair for Parents of Music Students (POMS). She also served on the Advisory Councils at Winn Brook and Belmont High School. She has volunteered on other committees including the Belmont Soccer Association, and served as a Town Meeting Member for three years.
Lucia is the parent of a son, Eric, who graduated Belmont High school in June and is a freshman at Fairfield University. She is thrilled to be on the Board of The Belmont Media Center, an organization she believes is one of the most valuable town resources serving all generations.
