2015 Town Campaign Programming Info and Guidelines

A central part of BMC’s mission is to provide an open forum for free speech and a neutral political forum in order to educate and inform Belmont residents about candidates and issues on the ballot. BMC will be presenting the “2015 Town Election Campaign Program Block,” which will commence on March 19th and end on April 5, 2015. This programming block will consist of all content relevant to the upcoming town elections in Belmont.

BMC will present the “2015 Town Election Campaign Program Block” on the following days and times throughout the campaign period:

Thursdays & Fridays @ 7pm     BMC Channels 8– COMCAST  /  28– VERIZON

Saturdays & Sundays @ 7pm    BMC Channels 96– COMCAST  /  30– VERIZON

BMC is offering time on March 16th and 18th for town-wide candidates to videotape a promotional spot here at Belmont Media Center’s Studio A. Candidates will be given 5 minutes each to make a statement about candidacy. A teleprompter will be available for your use. This will NOT be an interview format. Thursday, March 26th at 7:30 p.m.BMCwill be covering the Belmont League of Women Voters “Candidates Night.”  This program will air live that evening on Ch 8 & 28 on online and will be replayed as part of the campaign programming block.

On the evening of Tuesday, March 31st, BMC will cablecast a “Live Debate” with the candidates for Board of Selectmen sponsored by The Belmontonian and moderated by Franklin Tucker. This debate will be seen live on BMC Ch. 8 & 28 and online at belmontmedia.org/live and on the Belmontonian news website: belmontonian.com. Stay tuned for more details.

On the BMC Community Bulletin Board (Ch. 96-Comcast and Ch. 30-Verizon and on the web @ belmontmedia.org/bulletin-board), BMC will provide town-wide office candidates the opportunity to host a "Candidate Page." If interested, please submit a photo electronically, and the name and office for which you are running. Email all photos and information to julie@belmontmedia.org.

Finally, BMC will produce 2015 Town Election Live on Tuesday, April 7th from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tune in to Channels 8 (Comcast) and 28 (Verizon) for results, analysis, and interviews.
