Another successful Payson Park Music Festival season has come to a close. BMC would like to extend a huge thanks to Maggie Rose March for her videography work on the majority of the concerts. Thank you Maggie for her commitment. Also, thank you to our summer intern Gabrielle Mountain for editing several of these concerts and for assisting with the concert coverage. And thank you to our intern Brittany Carragher and to Nicholas Passell for their video work on the concerts as well.
With the installation of our new high definition Broadcast Pix control room system, this is the perfect time to get yourself into BMC to learn the ins and outs of running a television program. All directors, technical directors and even producers should take this workshop. The operation of this system is a little different than the previous and everyone can benefit from this workshop.
I'm so excited to be bringing in the photographic work of Andrew Roy's high school photography class tomorrow, Weds, July 31. He's coming in mid-morning to hang student artwork that is inpsired by the late Belmont photographer, Paula Lerner.
When Belmont Media Center was founded in early 2006, the media industry was already moving to high-definition (HD) TV and video. At the time, it was unclear just how fast or how expensive a complete switch to HD video production and editing would be. So, we made the most of our equipment; planning carefully to switch to HD in the future.
Here in high summer, I would like to take a moment to tell you that Rachel Wiederhoeft, our Marketing & Administration Manager, will be leaving BMC at the end of July to start a new position in media. While we hate to lose her, we wish Rachel all the best in the future, as she starts a new phase to her career.
While working at BMC I find that each day is different from the last and I seem to be learning new skills each day; skills such as editing film packages and operating the improved HD Board equipment. The days have started to go by much faster here at BMC. I credit that to the kids participating in the 10 Day Belmont Youth Video Challenge and the BMC members that have invited me to work on some of their projects. So here are just a few highlights from the past two weeks.
