Studio Crew Needed This Wednesday Night!

Volunteers are needed this Wednesday night on October 22nd for a lecture taping in the studio entitled "The Life and Poetry of Avrom Sutzkever." "The Life and Poetry of Avrom Sutzkever

Geoffrey Brahmer continues his lecture series with "The Life and Poetry of Avrom Sutzkever." Sutzkever is a poet and a survivor of the Vilna Ghetto. His poems illuminate the experience of living and dying in the holocaust. His post-war poems depict his journey as a living witness, coming to grips with his memories and the meaning of the Holocaust in his own life, as well as in every generation. The presentation, filmed in front of a live studio audience, will include readings of Sutzkever’s poems by members of the community.

Salvatore Arno Music Concert

A concert in honor of composer Salvatore Arno (1884-1963) will be performed at the Belmont Beech Street Center on Sunday, October 26th at 3:00 PM. Come and enjoy an afternoon of early 20th century classical music by this Italian composer from Messina and long-time resident of Boston and Belmont. The music will be performed by a small group of musicians, featuring: Victoria Bartolomeo, soprano; Sarah Troxler, piano; Margaret Leddy, violin; and Alex Wagner, violin. Light refreshments will be provided. A suggested donation of $10 at the door will help support this event.

Watch the first episode of a new series "Focus on Health," featuring a presentation by Erin McNeill, president of Media Literacy Now. On this episode, Erin discusses the impact media can have on a child's health. Her presentation depicts examples of media with potentially harmful messages and includes information on what parents can do to limit their children's exposure to these messages.

A Shot of Life Community Photo Contest

Take your own shot of life and enter it into Belmont's Community Photo Contest! All photos will be on display November 3rd - December 5th at the Gallery@BMC located at the Belmont Media Center at 9 Lexington Street in Waverley Square. The winning photos will be chosen by "Voters' Choice" Ballot. Winners will be announced at the Belmont Media Center Annual Meeting on November 20th. 


Documentary Screening and Volunteers Needed!


Come to Belmont Media Center for a screening for the short documentary "A Special Barber" produced by local filmmaker Ian Scully. This is the story of Frank Guarino and his 50 plus years of cutting hair in Belmont. The screening will be held on Tuesday, September 30th, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Belmont Media Center on 9 Lexington St., Waverley Square. This event is free and open to the public.
