8:44 p.m.: Criminal complaint against a Medford man for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

Mail from mailboxes in Belmont and surrounding towns is getting stolen, according to Belmont Police Lt. Kristin Daley.

Most recently, reports were received by Belmont residents who had mail stolen from a mailbox located at Beech Street and Trapelo Road.

Checks were washed and people attempted to cash them for large sums, said Daley.

"The best thing for people to do is to bring their mail to the post office during business hours," she said.
