Tzouvelis Family Memories
Annette Tzouvelis
Artist Statement:
As a Greek-American, my experimental creative process is primarily grounded in oil painting, and making embroidery, drawing, and 3D forms. Focused mostly on representational expression, my work celebrates my faith and family. Positioned within a never-ending scope of learning, I explore topics involving iconography, bible verses, spiritual windows, transformation, and everyday life. With my embroidery works, I built a personal connection to myself through stitching iconography and bible verses. There's a connection between spirituality and religion that I feel when I hold the needle. I strive to provide spiritual window into every piece of fabric I work with. I've learned to turn an idea into art and make confident decisions about my work. Most importantly, I've learned not to fear rejection or criticism. With my brush, paint, and palette in my hand, a blank canvas ready, I hold the power to create anything I find new creative openings and possibilities.
