Tickets are on sale for Belmont Dramatic Club's spring production, "Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery," featuring talented Belmont resident Curtis Eames playing 15 roles in this funny, creepy, entertaining murder mystery on stage at Town Hall Auditorium, April 22, 23, 29 and 30.

Rink passes second time around, Amy Zuccarello and Jung Yueh win School Committee, Appointed treasurer approved

Election Results

The unofficial results for the town election on April 4th are in.

The question to pass a debt exclusion for a new rink won 60.71% of the yes votes.

The question to have an appointed treasurer won 66.16% of the yes votes.

Amy Zuccarello and Jung Yueh won the two School Committee seats.

Zuccarello received 31.53% of the votes, Yueh 25.70% and Rachel Watson, 16.64%.

The voter turnout was 36.29%.

School Committee candidates weigh in on superintendent search process

Each candidate in the race for the two School Committee seats was asked to answer the following question in 200 words or less:

There are  a lot of residents who were not happy with the process of hiring a new superintendent including a member of the search committee. Can you tell me how you, if elected, Re-gain the trust of these unhappy residents. Do you think things should have been done differently with the search and hiring process for a new superintendent, and if so, how?

The School Committee is expected to collaborate with and hold the superintendent accountable at the same time. The School Committee is charged with the evaluation of the superintendent. It can be challenging to give honest feedback in a public, televised setting. How will you ensure that you can give valid feedback, including constructive criticism, given the public forum?

Belmont dancers in competition team win award

Belmont Dance Competition

Koltun Ballet Boston in Watertown led by two decorated former dancers Alexandra Koltun and Alex Lapshin, recently took home the award for Outstanding School at this year's Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) ballet competition.

Koltun Ballet Boston (KBB), with a team of 26 young Massachusetts dancers, scored the award for overall performance in the competition including an ensemble performance of “Weather,” a new work by dance-maker Lesley Telford. Telford won the Outstanding Choreographer Award for the piece, which KBB commissioned specifically for YAGP.
