2:09 a.m.: A cab driver reported picking up a man in South Boston and dropping him off at a destination on Common Street. When he arrived, the man said he was going to go inside to get money to pay him. The cab driver waited 20 minutes, then decided to report it to the police. The cab fare was $45. He provided the police with a description of the man and his address. Officers attempted to reach him but was told no one was living at the address provided by the cab driver. Officers searched the rest of the home for the man but were not able to locate him. An officer also left a voice mail on the phone number for the man provided by the cab driver.
5:19 a.m.: Officers responded to a person in distress on Bartlett Avenue. A male was lying on the ground with his hands holding the back of his head. He attempted to stand but stumbled backwards to the ground. Officers asked him to remain on the ground until Belmont Rescue arrived. He admitted he was drinking and had no recollection of how he ended up on the ground.

1:54 p.m.: A Lincoln Street resident reported her wallet stolen was stolen from her purse while she was at the Methodist church on Common Street in Belmont. She was making coffee in the church kitchen located in the basement of the church. After the service was over at approximately 11:3 a.m., she went upstairs to speak to a friend and left her purse in the kitchen. At around 12:15 p.m., she noticed her wallet was not in the purse. She noticed it was left on a bench and everything was inside except for the cash. There was a man at the church she and her friends had never seen before. He was sitting in the basement next to the kitchen door. They didn’t think much about it at the time because new people join the church but in hindsight, she thinks it was suspicious. She described him as large in height and weight with dark black skin.
Monday, Sept. 22
8:06 p.m.: A Falmouth Street couple reported fraudulent activities. They agreed to pay a contractor hired to work on the house, one third of the payment as a deposit and to pay the rest when the work was finished. The contractor worked on the house Sept. 5th. On Sept. 5th, he mailed the final payment to the contractor for $2,516 using a Santander check. It was dropped in the mailbox at the corner of Belmont and Falmouth Streets. The contractor said he never received the check payment. On Sept. 22nd they discovered the check was cashed in the amount of $9,516. The contractor cashed the initial deposit check the same day. They were able to freeze their bank account, but the check was already cashed. The bank will investigate.
Tuesday, Sept. 23
4:17 p.m.: An ice cream truck driver for ABC Ice Cream reported being harassed by an unknown male juvenile for the last five months who regularly comes to his truck and asks for ice cream. Today he was parked at Belmont High next to the fields serving ice cream to students. The male juvenile once again asked for free ice cream. He replied, “no.” He wants the constant asking for ice dream to stop as he can’t set an expectation for other children to receive free ice cream. He provided a photo of the juvenile for police to identify him and speak to him or his parents.
Belmont Police responded to two mental health and three domestic calls.
